Podcasts to listen to

A podcast is a digital medium consisting of an episodic series of audio, video, PDF, or ePub files subscribed to and downloaded through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile device. The word is a neologism and portmanteau derived from “broadcast” and “pod” from the success of the iPod, as audio podcasts are often listened to on portable media players.

Some of good Podcasts to listen to…

1. Software Engineering Radio

Software Engineering Radio is a podcast targeted at the professional software developer. The goal is to be a lasting educational resource, not a newscast. Every two to four weeks, a new episode is published that covers all topics software engineering. Episodes are either tutorials on a specific topic, or an interview with a well-known expert from the software engineering world.

2. Packet Pushers

The Packet Pushers Podcast is an audio program published multiple times per month covering the data networking industry. Co-hosts Greg Ferro and Ethan Banks are professional network architects and writers with many years of network engineering and design experience in a variety of industries, as well as being Cisco Certified Internetwork Experts.

The podcast is deeply technical, providing hardcore networking information to fellow engineers through discussions with subject matter experts from around the world. At the same time, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, having a bit of entertaining fun and exchange of strong opinions when called for.

3. The Dave Ramsey Show

More than 20 years ago, Dave took to the air to share practical answers for life’s tough money questions. What started as a local show on one radio station in Nashville soon spread to another station … and another … and another.

Today, The Dave Ramsey Show is on more than 500 radio stations from coast to coast with more than 8 million listeners, but Dave’s message hasn’t changed. It’s still as practical and common-sense as ever.

4. Freakonomics Radio

In their books “Freakonomics,” “SuperFreakonomics,” and “Think Like a Freak,” Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner explore “the hidden side of everything,” telling stories about cheating schoolteachers and eating champions while teaching us all to think a bit more creatively, rationally, and productively. The Freakonomics Radio podcast, hosted by Dubner, carries on that tradition with weekly episodes. Prepare to be enlightened, engaged, perhaps enraged, and definitely surprised.
